What is the difference between ahle hadith and ahle sunnat?
  • Question:

What is the difference between ahle hadith and ahle sunnat?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

Ahl al Hadith means “the people of hadith” and Ahl al Sunnah refers to “the people of the sunnah”

Both hadith and sunnah refer to the prophetic teachings and practices. Hence every Muslim is connected to both the hadith and sunnah. One should refrain from labelling Muslims and dividing them into various groups. There will always be difference of opinion based on interpretation of source texts. This is valid and acceptable within the framework of the Qur'an and prophetic teachings.

Unity is desired not necessarily uniformity.

    And Allah knows best.
