Wine - Is it Against Muslim Beliefs?
  • Question:

Is drinking wine against Muslim beliefs? When will my prayers be valid when I have had wine?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

Yes, drinking wine is prohibited for Muslims according to the Qur'an (See Qur'an Surah Maidah verses 90-91). Muslims are not to drink wine, beer or any other intoxicants.

Prayer is not valid in the state when someone is drunk after consuming wine.

One must be pure and clean from any residue of prohibited substances and impure items such as wine, in order for ritual prayer to be valid.

    And Allah knows best.
