Prayers - Better Alone or Wait for Congregation?
  • Question:

I am aware of the importance of both praying Fardh prayers on time and also the rewards of praying in congregation. However, I am faced in a situation where I have to choose whether to pray Fardh prayers alone but right on time or to wait for someone (roughly half an hour) to join me in praying in congregation. Please advise.

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

As you have specified, both praying Fardh prayers on time and also praying in congregation are of utmost importance. In your situation, we presume you are referring to praying at a place other than the Masjid. If that is so, you should make an agreement with the Muslims in your place to establish the congregation at a specified time. Then who ever shows up at the specified time can commence the congregational prayer.

If you are referring to the congregation in the masjid, it is best to wait and join the congregation.

    And Allah knows best.
