Personal Grooming in Men - Removing Chest Hair
  • Question:

Is it haram for a Muslim man to shave his chest hair?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

It is not recommended for men to remove hair from the chest, arms and legs, and it should be avoided as this constitutes resembling feminine qualities. However if a man does remove the hair of chest, arms and legs, it would not be considered prohibited. (Al Hindiyyah)

“The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) cursed men who imitate women and cursed women who imitate men”. (Bukhari).

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) cursed a man who puts on the attire of women, and a woman who puts on the attire of men. (Abu Dawud).

    And Allah knows best.
