Hadith about Surah Al Hashr - Authencity
  • Question:

Is this an authentic hadith and could you give us the source please.
“He who recited the last three verses of Surah al-Hashr in the morning after saying; “A’oodhu Billaah is-samee’ il-‘aleemi min as-Shaytaan ir-rajeem ” three times (I seek refuge with Allah, the All-Hearing, All-Knowing, from the accursed Shaytaan) for him Allah will appoint seventy-thousand angels to beseech mercy for him until the evening, and if he dies the same day he will be given the status of a martyr, and if he recites the verses in the evening the same will be done for him till morning"

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

The source for this hadith is Tirmidhi and Musnad Ahmad. The hadith is an acceptable one even though it has not reached a high level of authenticity. Since the content of this hadith is related to virtues, the professors of hadith and jurists state that it is acceptable to recite this supplication hoping for the rewards described in it. (See: Tadrib al Rawi)

    And Allah knows best.
