Fasting - Is there an Age Limit to Stop Fasting?
  • Question:

Is there an age of a person when fasting is not mandatory or not required?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

There is no age to restrict fasting.

Mandatory fasting in the month of Ramadān is a lifelong practice that must be adhered to by all adult Muslims. However if one is sickly or extremely old, that it is impossible to fast, they will be excused from the mandatory fasting. Instead they will give a charity for each mandatory fast missed.

    And Allah knows best.
