Leucorrhoea & Purity
  • Question:

Does a woman who suffers from leucorrhoea have to take ghusl (Islamic bath) before every prayer? Does leucorrhoea discharge invalidate a woman’s fast?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

Leucorrhoea is a thick, whitish or yellowish vaginal discharge.

This discharge nullifies the wudū, hence renewal of wudū is required before commencing ritual prayer. If the discharge soiled garments, then the soiled areas of the garments must be cleaned before using them for prayer.

If the discharge is excessively constant and the vagina is usually wet with the discharge, then the women experiencing this will only make one wudū for the duration of one prayer time.

This discharge will not nullify the fast.

    And Allah knows best.
