Attending Non-Muslim Weddings
  • Question:

What is the Islamic ruling on attending and participating in a non-Muslim wedding?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

Establishing social relations with people of all faiths and persuasions is something that is praiseworthy.

When looking at the biography of the Prophet Muḥammad (peace and blessings upon him), we find countless occasions of the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him) attending events of the disbelievers.

In general, it is permissible to participate in a non-Muslim function or event, provided one does not engage in doing or participating in any activity that is Islamically prohibited such as worshiping other than Allāh.

    And Allah knows best.
