Menses Symptoms - When can a Woman Cease Prayers/Fasting?
  • Question:

When a woman experiences precursor symptoms of menstruation for example pain, discomfort etc, without seeing blood, does that indicate she can cease prayers/fasting or does she need to continue prayers/fasting until actual bleeding occurs?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

Kindly note that a woman is considered in her menses once she is able to see blood of menstruation.

Discomfort without seeing blood will be deemed a state of purity, hence acts of worship such as prayer and fasting will be valid.

(See Al Fiqh al Islāmīy wa Adillatuhū)

    And Allah knows best.
