Saying Dua Outside the State of Wudu
  • Question:

Often it happens, that we read out a dua or some Surah without having wudu, like in a moment of fear or difficulties, so my question is: Is your dua being accepted in such situations?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

    Thank you for your question.

Reading Quran or making dua doesn’t require a person to be in a state of wudu. In fact, some of the scholars even allowed sujud al shukr (The prostration of gratitude) to be made while not being in wudu so that a person doesn’t lose the moment. Overall, it’s a good habit for the Muslim to stay in wudu as much as he/she can, but it is not a perquisite to an accepted supplication.

    And Allah knows best.
